Yang Wei, born in 1963, academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences，is the Executive Vice President of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC). Yang has long been devoted to the research and design of fighter aircraft, as the Chief Designer of J-20, J-10S, J-10A, J-10B, J-10C, JF-17 and JF-17B. He is regarded as one of the founders of fully digital fly-by-wire control systems in China.
Yang received his master's degree in aerodynamics and flight mechanics from Northwestern Polytechnical University (NPU) in 1985. He has served as President and Chief Designer of Chengdu Aircraft Design & Research Institute (CADI), Vice President of China Aeronautical Establishment (CAE), Deputy Chief Engineer of the AVIC, and Deputy Director of AVIC Science and Technology Committee. Yang is a council member of the Chinese Society of Aeronautics and Astronautics (CSAA).
